Fluorspar powder is the powdered form of the mineral fluorite (calcium fluoride, CaF₂).

In industry it is supplied in different grades -  for example “metallurgical grade”, “acid grade”, etc.

Typical uses include:

  • As a flux in steelmaking and foundries to lower the melting point of slags and improve impurity removal.

  • In the production of hydrofluoric acid (HF) and other fluorine-chemicals (acid grade).

  • In glass, ceramics, welding electrodes, and other industrial contexts.

Physical appearance: usually a white or off-white crystalline powder (depending on impurities) with very low solubility in water.

    Purity (CaF₂ content)

    • For acid grade: ≥ 95 % CaF₂

    • For metallurgical grade: ~60–96 % CaF₂ according to some  suppliers.

    Impurity limits (SiO₂, CaCO₃ etc)SiO₂ < 3 %
    Moisture content≤ 0.5 %
